Image Representation Using Finite State Automata
نویسنده
چکیده
Image representation using quadtrees is useful in many applications and is well known in computer graphics. It has been shown that we can represent quadtrees asrationallanguages that are recognizable by finite state automata (FSA) [1]. These FSA can use less memory and are more flexible than their corresponding quadtrees. Binary image representation using FSA follows these two main steps: (1) FSA construction based on quad trees and (2) FSA minimization [2]. This approach can be easily adapted to represent gray scale images, colors images or volume data (octrees). Image representation using FSA supports all quad tree operations (union, intersection, rotations, ... ) as well as all FSA-defined operations.

Reduction of Computational Complexity in Finite State Automata Explosion of Networked System Diagnosis (RESEARCH NOTE)
This research puts forward rough finite state automata which have been represented by two variants of BDD called ROBDD and ZBDD. The proposed structures have been used in networked system diagnosis and can overcome cominatorial explosion. In implementation the CUDD - Colorado University Decision Diagrams package is used. A mathematical proof for claimed complexity are provided which shows ZBDD ...
متن کاملAn - Automata Approach to the Representation of Bilevel Images
We use -automata (i.e., automata over infinite words) as a device for representing bilevel images. A major advantage of our approach, as opposed to using the conventional finite automata, lies in that -automata are capable of representing image objects of zero size, such as lines and points. To demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we also show how a number of image processing operations...
متن کاملFinite Automata Encoding Geometric Figures
Finite automata are used for the encoding and compression of images. For black-and-white images, for instance, using the quad-tree representation, the black points correspond to ω-words defining the corresponding paths in the tree that lead to them. If the ω-language consisting of the set of all these words is accepted by a deterministic finite automaton then the image is said to be encodable a...
متن کاملImage Storage, Indexing and Recognition with Finite State Automata
In this paper, we introduce the weighted finite state automata (WFA) as a tool for image specification and loss or loss-free compression. We describe how to compute WFA from input images and how the resultant automaton can be used to store images (or to create image database) and to obtain additional interesting information usable for image indexing or recognition. Next, we describe an automata...
متن کاملTexture Analysis of Compressed Images
We introduce a new method of image texture analysis that is based on techniques that compress images in the form of weighted finite automata (WFA). We show that the WFA representation of images contain information about an image that is useful in analysing local texture and define a simple texture analysis method based on WFA. This method is the first texture analysis method that uses weighted ...
